Interesting Facts I Experienced In Ho Chi Minh City

The moment I landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), Vietnam, I was very excited about the food and not knowing how difficult it is to communicate with Vietnamese. Vietnam airport wasn’t that big as I thought it would be but after you go through immigration officer and collect your luggage, there is massive crowd of Vietnamese standing outside waiting…waiting for me! Yeay…wait! Not me really. However, the first step is to find taxi and get the direction straight to my hotel that I have book in advance.

After I checked in into my hotel, I ask the lady at the receptionist where can I change my Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) currency and they pointed at the nearby bank. So I did go there and I came out with a big problem. Then I realise that I could not change Malaysian Ringgit into Dong in any places. I am in a big trouble. Bank would only accept USD, GBP, HK Dollar, Yen and few other currencies. This has taught me a lesson, to change the currency in my own country before travelling.

The exchange shop not only accepts MYR but also any other currencies that bank do not accept. They might not offer the best currency rates, but this is the only place that willing to accept your currency.

Other than that, over 1 millions of motorbike on the road on daily basis and this makes it hard to across the road with no traffic light. This is too much and I never seen this in Malaysia or probably because I never travelled much yet. When got the chance to cross the road, it would probably best to walk normally or fun sometimes because they can see you and they would mostly avoid you as well.

The must try in Ho Chi Minh City most probably the ice milk coffee and their local cuisine such as Banh Mi, Pho, Bun Rieu, Bun Mam, Bun Bo Hue, and so much more. Went to visit their main attraction places as well such as Independence Palace, Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica, Saigon Central Post Office, Ben Thanh Market, Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Municipal Theatre, and Ho Chi Minh City Hall. There’s a lot more to explore in Vietnam. Also heard that their beach is blue and clear and nice as well such as in Hoi An, Da Nang.
